In his speech delivered during the Civil Defence Day Parade at the new Basic Rescue Training Centre (BRTC) today, Senior Minister of State for Law and Home Affairs Associate Professor Ho Peng Kee announced two SCDF initiatives, namely the "Hazmat Live Inventory Portal" and the "My Ready Mobile" projects.
In the Parade held in commemoration of the Civil Defence Day, some 300 SCDF officers from the seven Civil Defence Units congregated at BRTC to re-dedicate themselves to the noble mission of saving lives and properties.
Guest-of-Honour Associate Professor Ho Peng Kee also reviewed the Guard-of-Honor contingent and presented 3 awards to the Best CD NS Units and 1 award to the Best Fire Station. It is the second consecutive year that Yishun Fire Station had successfully clinched the Best Fire Station Award. The award winners are:
The evening ended on a joyous note with a recitation of the CD pledge led by Commissioner SCDF, followed by the parade march past. The evening came to a rousing close as guests were then treated to a visual feast of SCDF"s latest fleet of operational appliances as the mobile column saluted Assoc Prof Ho as they drove past the Parade Grand Stand.
