At 1601 hrs, SCDF Control Room received a call informing of yellow smoke emitting from a window at the above-mentioned location. 2 Fire engines, 6 Support Appliances, including SCDF"s Hazardous Materials team, and 1 Ambulance were dispatched.
On arrival, the crew found yellow fumes emitting from a work area at the first level of the building. 5 workers who were conducting maintenance works on an equipment in the work area suffered chemical burns. SCDF carried out immediate decontamination of the workers and conveyed them to NUH. One worker refused conveyance.
SCDF"s Hazardous Materials team, donning high performance suits, carried out mitigation operations by using absorbents and diluting the affected area with water.
