On Monday 14 August 2006 at approximately 7.56am, SCDF was alerted to a fire incident at Blk 675 Chua Chu Kang Crescent.
Resources despatched to this incident included one fire engine, one Red Rhino, one support vehicle and one ambulance. Upon arrival, the SCDF crew found the fire well alight in one of the bedrooms of a unit on the sixth floor of Blk 675. SCDF personnel had to conduct forcible entry operations to gain access into the unit.
Donning their full Breathing Apparatus sets, a section of four SCDF personnel entered the unit and swiftly extinguished the fire using a 38mm water jet within ten minutes. The SCDF team also rescued a 66-year-old woman. She was conscious but suffering from smoke inhalation and was conveyed to hospital by an SCDF ambulance.
The fire caused extensive damage to the front bedroom. Other parts of the unit including the living room, kitchen as well as the other rooms were also damaged due to the smoke emitted.
The cause of fire is currently under investigation.
