At 0123hrs, SCDF was alerted to a fire at No. 63 Aliwal Street.2 Fire Engines, 2 Red Rhino, 5 Supporting Vehicles and 2 ambulances were immediately dispatched to the location and arrived at the incident site within 8 minutes.
Upon arrival, SCDF personnel found the fire raging and black smoke was seen from the premises. SCDF personnel immediately donned breathing apparatus sets and conducted offensive fire fighting. A total of 3 water jets and 1 aerial monitor from the Combined Platform Ladder were used to bring the fire under control within 30 minutes. The second level of No.63 Aliwal Street was totally burnt. The attic area of the neighouring unit at No. 61 Aliwal Street was also affected by the fire.
The SCDF also conducted search operations to ensure that no one was trapped.
The cause of the fire is being investigated.
1 Male, Malay who suffered from smoke inhalation was conveyed to SGH by an SCDF ambulance. In addition, 1 Male, Indonesian, with no visible injuries, was also conveyed to SGH as a precautionary measure. At the time of this report, no other injuries were reported.
