As of 0800hrs today (29 Sept 2011), SCDF relieved the fire fighters who had been working throughout the night with a fresh fire fighting crew.
The fire fighting operations are still ongoing. There has been a surge in the fire at the manufacturing facility. The fire is still contained within the bund wall. Boundary cooling operation is still being carried out to prevent heat exposure to the nearby storage tanks.
As a result of the fire fighting operations, 2 SCDF fire engines were badly damaged by the fire; and 1 fire engine sustained partial damage.
No further reported injuries at the time of this news release.
