This is an update to yesterday"s News Release which was sent at 2340 hrs on Thursday, 29 Sept 2011. The fire at the manufacturing plant on Pulau Bukom was extinguished at 2118 hrs on 29 September 2011.
SCDF resources which included 34 SCDF Vehicles (13 Fire Engines and 21 Support Vehicles) and about 100 fire-fighters remained on the island. SCDF is continuing to disperse the traces of fuel vapour using water jets. In addition, SCDF is conducting foaming operations at certain areas of the incident site.
DPM Teo Chee Hean, Coordinating Minister for National Security & Minister for Home Affairs, had been to the forward operations centre deployed at Pasir Panjang Ferry Terminal on Wednesday night (28 Sept 2011) and to Pulau Bukom this morning to assess the situation.
