As of 0800 hrs today (1 Oct 2011), SCDF has relieved their fire fighters with a fresh fire fighting crew. This is the fourth relief exercise since the fire started on Wednesday, 28 September 2011.
34 SCDF Vehicles (13 Fire Engines and 21 Support Vehicles) and about 100 fire-fightersremained on the island. SCDF is continuing foaming operations. There are still traces of fuel vapour in the affected area; SCDF is continuing to monitor the situation and is working closely with Shell.
No further reported injuries at the time of this news release.
