On 10 July 2006 at 7.37 am, SCDF was alerted to a fire on the 4th storey of HDB Blk 69, Circuit Road. Immediately, 1 fire engine, 1 Red Rhino and 2 ambulances were deployed to the incident. SCDF arrived at the location within 4 minutes.
Upon arrival, the SCDF personnel found that the kitchen was engulfed in flames and the apartment was smoke-logged. Donning breathing apparatus sets, SCDF personnel penetrated the thick smoke to conduct a simultaneous search of the unit as well as fire-fighting operation. As the entire apartment was filled with contents such as boxes, bags of clothes and newspapers, fire-fighters had to maneuver through these obstructions to get to the fire.
SCDF personnel rescued 1 male Chinese, who was found conscious in the living room of the flat. He suffered burns as well as smoke inhalation and was conveyed by SCDF ambulance to the Singapore General Hospital for further medical treatment. Another unknown person was found badly burnt in the kitchen and was subsequently pronounced dead by the paramedic. The fire, which was confined to the kitchen, was extinguished within 6 minutes with one Water Mist Gun.
The cause of fire is currently under investigation.
