On 5 Dec 2006 at 0653hrs, the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) was alerted to an incident at the Yishun MRT Station. SCDF appliances comprising an ambulance, a fire engine, a Red Rhino and a Rescue Tender from the Yishun Fire Station arrived at the incident location within 5 minutes.
A man was found lying motionless under a train on the MRT track on the South-bound platform. 4 SCDF personnel including a medic crawled under the train to gain access to the body and extricated the victim. He was pronounced dead by the SCDF paramedic at the scene. The operation lasted 10 minutes.
