The fire on the reclaimed land northeast of Singapore has been extinguished.
The fire was about one football field in size and involved construction-site machinery and equipment, and products believed to be used in land reclamation. The fire was brought under control within one hour of SCDF arriving on the reclaimed land. This is also the first fire-fighting operation that involved SCDF"s new marine fire-fighting capability. Two marine fire vessels (Api Api 1 and 2) were deployed and assisted with the fire-fighting operation by pumping sea water to assist the fire-fighters on the ground fight the fire.
The cause of fire is being investigated.
