At 6.29 am this morning, the SCDF was alerted to a case of person who had fallen inside a cargo vessel which was docked at Jurong Port Road.
On arrival at scene, SCDF fire fighters found the man trapped in a confined space within a compartment of the cargo vessel. The cargo vessel measuring about 20m in height was used to store metal beams. SCDF"s Disaster Assistance and Rescue Team (DART) was also activated to assist in the rescue operation. The DART members rescued the man using rescue ropes and stretcher and with the assistance of the vessel"s crane.
The casualty was semi-conscious and sustained head injuries. He was conveyed to National University Hospital by SCDF ambulance.
