At 1600hrs, SCDF was informed that a crane had collapsed at a construction site along Fort Road. SCDF resources which include 1 Fire Engine, 1 Red Rhino, 3 Ambulances, 1 Support vehicle, Disaster Assistance and Rescue Team were immediately dispatched and arrived within 5 minutes.
Upon arrival, SCDF officers found that a crane, about 21 meters in height had collapsed onto a nearby 7-storey building that is under construction. There were 3 casualties. One of them was trapped underneath the boom of the crane.
SCDF rescuers pulled 2 casualties to safety from the rooftop of the building. SCDF paramedics were also on the rooftop to assess the condition of the casualties. The casualties were evacuated from the building using the on-site crane and crane bucket. They were conveyed to Tan Tock Seng Hospital in two ambulances.
Rescuers used rescue equipment to extricate the third casualty from under the boom of the crane. He was pronounced dead by SCDF paramedics at scene at 1810hrs.
