At 1533hrs, SCDF received a call informing that there was an accident involving two lorry trailer vehicles.
As a result of the accident, the driver of one of the lorry trailers was trapped in the driver"s cabin. A concrete slab has crushed the driver"s cabin from the rear, pinning the driver in his seat. The driver was rescued by SCDF using 2 sets of hydraulic spreader and cutter, a power saw and a winch. The rescue operation had to be executed with extreme caution so as not to aggravate the injuries.
SCDF paramedics were on scene to stabilize the casualty"s condition throughout the whole rescue operation. A medical team from National University Hospital was also in attendance in this incident.
The casualty was rescued within 45 minutes.
