The 55-member SCDF Ops Lionheart contingent has carried out search and rescue operations at 22 sites since their arrival in Christchurch, New Zealand.
SCDF rescuers have also been working closely with both local teams as well as teams from other international countries. On 26 February 2011, 1500 hrs (New Zealand time), a team of 8 SCDF rescuers conducted a joint assessment with the US Urban and Search Rescue (USAR) team from LA County, at the Oxford Terrace and Worchester Street area. No casualties were found.
On 27 February 2011, 0900 hrs (New Zealand time), another team of 9 SCDF rescuers, conducted search and rescue operations at a collapsed furniture shop and warehouse at 257 St Asap Street, McKenzie Willis. No casualties were found.
The search and rescue operations are still on-going. At the time of this news release, SCDF is carrying out operations at the 23rd site.
