The Banyan Fire Station commenced its operations from a modern, purpose-built building located along Banyan Road, Jurong Island at 8.00am today. Banyan Fire Station, which sits on a land area of 5000 square metres, comes with state-of-the-art fire-fighting and rescue equipment and also includes parking areas for emergency vehicles, stores for operational equipment, office space and training facilities.
Strategically sited at the centre of the Jurong Island extension, this new fire station manages a fleet of 12 emergency vehicles, including fire engines and Hazardous Materials (HazMat) vehicles, with a total manning of about 80 personnel that are able to respond to both HazMat as well as fire and rescue incidents round-the-clock.
The operationalisation of the new Banyan Fire Station serves as another key milestone in the SCDF's ongoing drive towards operational and service excellence. With this development, emergency services will be provided through an island-wide network of 16 fire stations and 26 fire posts.
